Drew Carey said he has no immediate plans to retire as the host of The Price Is Right and plans to continue to do so "as long as my heart is ticking and they want me to be on the show."

Carey, 65, took over as the show's host in 2007, succeeding the late Bob Barker, who retired from the position 16 years prior to his death in 2023.

"I think Bob made a mistake by retiring," Carey told Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier at the red carpet event for CBS Schedule Celebration's. "I'm not gonna make that same mistake. As long as my heart is ticking and they want me to be on the show, I think I'm gonna do The Price is Right. I just love it."

Carey went on to credit Barker, who died of Alzheimer's disease in 2023, on his legendary 35-year run as the show's host.

“He was so good at this,” Carey said via Entertainment Tonight. “He was so good at relating to people and getting them to be relaxed and be themselves. You watch his demeanor and his attitude. He never seemed stressed.”

Carey also said he's confident in Ryan Seacrest, who will soon follow a similar path replacing iconic Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak upon his upcoming retirement.

“Do I have any advice for billionaire Ryan Seacrest? Who hosts everything all the time? No,” Carey said via Entertainment Tonight. “Bro, I think you got it. I think you know what to do. I think you know how to host things. Don’t worry about it. You’re going to be fine.”
